Exhibitions, Commissions, Competitions & Travel

This year has been quite a topsy turvy one for us. Most things we had planned to do had to be deferred for various reasons, but now we are catching up. Our postponed Italian trip is back on again in October, although in a much shortened form.

A commission trip to Port Hedland, and a painting workshop I was to hold in Quilpie, also have both been put off until next year.

My painting rhythm has been quite disrupted this year, but for some time now I have been diligently back at my easel, working on some larger paintings for my up-coming Sydney exhibition. I have just completed one of the largest paintings I have done for some time. "Fresco Lady" (168 x 122 cm) is a subject I have had in my thoughts for many years. It has a companion piece that I did quite a few years ago, and now it is very satisfying to see this one finally finished.

MALENY GALLERY OPENING - 17 & 18 SEPTEMBER - 10AM - 6PM BOTH DAYS

I have also been working on some smaller Italian pieces, not necessarily for the Sydney Show, so we have decided to open our Maleny Studio / Gallery for this one weekend.

If you fancy a nice drive to the Maleny Hills, the weather and the landscape here at the moment is beautiful.
All are most welcome.

I still have a passion for my Italian subjects. In Italy there is an endless supply of beautiful patinered walls and doors and windows, not to mention the people, and I get great joy out of painting them all.  The series continues.

ART PRIZES

For years I have not entered art competitions, mainly because I had not been a resident here in Australia, but this year I have had paintings accepted in the Paddington Art in Sydney, Tattersalls prize in Brisbane, and the Local Artist Local Content Prize on the Sunshine Coast.

I thought it would be a good idea to send the Sydney prize a little bit of Maleny.
