A borgo in Italy is a particular group of buildings, not quite a town, but sometimes dating back to the middle ages and renaissance. They are quite often fascinating places, and this one, Borgo Petrognano, north of San Gimignano, is no exception. I have done several paintings in this location, and I usually travel there each time I return to Italy. This year the light was exceptional, making the buildings glow with a lovely softness.
