I tend not to paint general "landscape" subjects with rolling hills, but I am always attracted to rural buildings that are partly obscured. This is a typical old farmhouse found all across Tuscany. The upstairs rooms for living, and downstairs for the machinery and animals, and of course the essential wine vats. They are usually accompanied with barn structures, their ventilation holes made with clever bricklaying. These properties have a rustic solid feel that I find very appealing. They make charming small paintings.
