I have always been fascinated by Venetian facades, with their lovely patinas and doors and windows reflected in the canals. Venice is always changing, with different seasons and different light, but also it physically changes from year to year, so a familiar subject will quite often present a new possibility to paint. I particularly like the challenge of painting subjects with very shallow depth.
